Jardimur Technical Details from Plean Precast
UK LEADERS IN PRECAST STONE AND CONCRETE

Composition & Manufacture
The Jardimur block is machine pressed in semi-dry concrete to achieve both a density in excess of 2,200kg/m3. This method produces bocks with the high level of dimensional consistency required for this type of construction.

To match specific architectural or local authority requirements the mix can be modified to achieve the required finish. All materials used fully conform with the relevant British Standards and the durability of the end product complies with the K2 category of
BS5628: Part 3:1985

Installation

The installation of Jardimur, being dry-jointed, is both simple and quick. The blocks are delivered to site palletised for safe and easy handling. Blocks are then divided into 2 retaining wall components, as required, by applying pressure or a light blow to the ends of the block to expose the riven face. The first course of Jardimur is then set into the mass concrete footing while the concrete is still green.

This first course needs to be carefully set to line and level. Successive courses are then dry-laid to the desired wall height. Granular fill is placed and compacted behind the wall as construction proceeds. To produce parapet or boundary wall components the second riven face is exposed by the further removal of the indented end of the block. The construction of the parapet wall is made by reversing the direction of each layer of blocks. It is recommended that a band of mortar is applied to the centre slot of this arrangement.

Detailed installation instructions are available on request. Alternatively Plean Precast Ltd. can put you in touch with experienced construction teams who are able to afford both client and contractor a rapid service and peace of mind.

Suitability

A guide to the suitability of Jardimur walls under certain loading conditions is shown in the graphs. In all cases it is recommended that soil and loading conditions are assessed and calculations prepared for each wall and footing design by the Client’s Engineer.

A design guide is available on request. Alternatively an individual project design service is available.
