Composition & Manufacture
The Darmur block is machine pressed in semi-dry concrete to achieve both a density in excess of 2,200kg/m3 and the high level of dimensional consistency required for this type of construction.

To match specific architectural or local authority requirements the mix can be modified to achieve the required finish. All materials used fully conform with the relevant British Standards and the durability of the end product complies with the K2 category of BS5628: Part 3:1985

Installation
The installation of Darmur, being dry-jointed, is both simple and quick. The blocks are supplied pre-split, ready for immediate use; and delivered to site palletised for safe and easy handling.

The excavation of the embankment and foundation trench is followed by the placing of a mass concrete footing. The first course of Darmur is set in either the green concrete or a mortar bed to line, level and the required batter. Successive courses are then dry-laid to the desired wall height. Granular fill is placed and compacted behind the wall as construction proceeds.

Suitability
A guide to the suitability of Darmur walls under certain loading conditions is shown in the tables which enable an estimate to be made of the necessary batter on the face of the wall for a given height. In all cases it is recommended that soil and loading conditions are assessed and calculations prepared for each wall and footing design by the Client’s Engineer.
