The project involved the manufacture of approximately 300no plain cladding panels each weighing 2000kg. Also required were 72no cutwater panels, these units averaged between 3 & 9 tonnes each and were the focal point of the whole construction process. The complicated shape required 14no moulds to be made, the design and construction proving very demanding.
The architect specified a granite finish to all the units and was achieved using both granite fine and course aggregates. The ex-mould finish was then treated with a chemical etch to reveal the granite based constituents on the exposed faces of the units.
